Getting Started
How do I join a run?
Head to the Staff page to see who's hosting and their vibe, then check ATD's Runs for the host's Google Drive link and a full step-by-step setup guide. Once your mods are installed and your load order's imported, just hop in Discord and let the host know you're ready.
What if I'm new to D&D?
Totally welcome. You don't need to know the rules, have a character built, or have ever played before — our hosts are happy to walk you through it. Baldur's Gate 3 itself teaches most of what you need as you go.
I've never modded a game before — is that okay?
Yep. The ATD's Runs guide is written to be as simple as possible, step by step, with no modding experience assumed. If you get stuck, ask in Discord — someone will help.
Mods & Setup
Do I need to own BG3 mods separately?
No — every mod we use is free, from Mod.io or Nexus Mods. You just need a copy of Baldur's Gate 3 itself; the mods are downloaded through your host's Google Drive folder and installed with BG3 Mod Manager. See the full list on the Mods page.
What's the difference between lightly modded, heavily modded, and Trials of Tav?
Lightly modded stays close to vanilla BG3 with just quality-of-life mods. Heavily modded adds new classes, races, and content for a very different experience. Trials of Tav is our roguelike hard-mode gauntlet for players who want a real challenge. Check Chronicles for more on each style.
Do I need the Script Extender?
For most modded runs, yes. It's covered in Step 2 of the ATD's Runs guide — BG3 Mod Manager can download and extract it for you automatically.
What platform do I need to join a modded run?
PC. BG3 Mod Manager and the mods we use aren't available on console, so modded runs are PC-only for now.
The Community
Is this just a BG3 server?
BG3 is the heart of it, but not the whole thing. The crew also plays Minecraft, Palworld, Monster Hunter Wilds, Final Fantasy, Warhammer games, and more — see Chronicles for the full list.
Is the server safe and beginner-friendly?
Yes — we mean that seriously. Read our full Rules page for the details, but the short version is: be respectful, play fair, and everyone gets a seat at the table.
What happens if someone's caught cheating?
We have zero tolerance for cheating or exploiting. If you run into it, let a host or moderator know — see the Rules page for what we expect from everyone at the table.
I still have a question — who do I ask?
Send us a message on the Send a Raven page, or just ask in Discord — someone will point you in the right direction.
